ŽAFRANI
V raziskovalnem delu vrta je tudi zbirka posebnosti rodu Crocus v Sloveniji. Pri tem rodu so v naravi prisotni tudi križanci, ki so prava redkost in ravno nekaj od njih uspešno gojimo v ex-situ pogojih kot različne barvne različice in tudi polno cvetne oblike- Flore pleno, ki pa so še redkejše.
